Dun say 2080, the 3070 can outperform the 2080TI. However this card will require minimum 750W PSU. As well, unless you pre-order you're unlikely to get a 3080, and when 3070 is released later on, will have same issue all the way through to 2021. According to HWZ, SLS pre-orders are already filled for 3080.
I dun wan to wait till 2021 for a new rig. 3 year cycle is my own take, I buy new rig and sell off the previous one, and the new one is usually 1-2 gen behind current. My previous one is 1080GTX i7-6700K which is around mid 2016 so already 4.5 years old, though it's still a perfectly capable PC since PC hardware already far outstripped most gaming needs.
This GPU conversation is similar to the mouse game. Logitech has the Hero sensor doing 16000 DPI, 1000 reports per second, full RGB. I have a G502 wired which does 12000 DPI, but I use 2400 DPI, any higher and the cursor is moving too fast for me. Most PC gamers don't need 16000 DPI just like most gamers don't need 300FPS in games, but get PC gear that can do it anyway, because PCMR?
NVMe storage can do 4000 megabytes per second transfer now, but in reality all games now perform just as well with 550 meg SATA3 SSD, but at least for this, costs are really low and NVMe gives cleaner SFF builds reducing 2 cables.
So in hindsight, even tho COVID backside itchy, my SFF build is perfectly fine.
